    They left no forwarding address so we sent all their mail right back to each company that they owed with a covering letter with our address and noting how much they owed us in rent.

    I thought it was illegal to open another person's mail.

    No, it isn't against the law to open it, it's illegal to use that mail for illegal purposes. Different thing altogether

    Are you sure? I only ask because I have seen people on here mention many times that you should not tamper (i.e. open and read) with mail if it isn't addressed to you.
