2 supply numbers help please.

Just had a disucssion with SSE due to trying to transfer from Scottish Power to Scottish Hydro & they have informed me I am basically totally shafted due to having two supply numbers (only x1 meter). I have paid £40 in elec this month and have been keeping the emergency going until next Wed when I receive my benefit money & intend to put £20 into the pre-payment meter. The storage heaters have been off for at least the last x7 days & only allowing the white meter immerser to heat-up every 2cd night. I have concrete walls with double glazed windows as due to being a block of flats, cannot access cavity wall grants. Am I missing anything I can do folks?? It literally drives me to drink this place & its costs to run. I feel I would be better off going homeless & being in a hostel, you get more money plus pocket money.

  • sounds like a heatwise or economy 10 type supply. Does your immersion / heating come on a 3 times during the day?

by £40 "this month" do you mean just the first week of April or the past month/ 30 days? if it was for the past month I'd say £40 was very low usage for an all electric household.

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
  • I have never heard of a "heatwise" system are they just down south? My payper bill calls it "prepayment" & not a Econ 10. Elec meter is in cupboard next to bedroom & hear the radio clicks.
The bill talks about Comfort Plus Control: Heating= 4.511p/KWh
    Comfort Plus Control: Other.= 10.369p?KWh
    Standing Charge.
  • i have 2 supply numbers but only 1 is active - im not on economy 10 or anything like that. i have just transferred from scottish power to eon and the only problem i had was that i couldnt transfer online and the system recognised the 2 supply no's. i rang eon and they could override the problem and just enter the correct supply no onto their system.
it sounds like the only reason you are paying so much is because you are on a pre-payment meter which are always more expensive.
  • From 11/06 to 11/07 Total Electric costs= £414.66
Is this good/bad or average for a one bed concrete box folks? lol
  • I would say for 12 months in an all electric household (and on prepayment meter) £415 is pretty good

Is a similar idea to economy 10 or heatwise I think.

I believe the "control" bit means that the distributer monitors weather conditions and switches on the heating circuit (via teleswitch) based on conditions.

As far as I know there will be a similar tarrif called comfort plus (i.e. without the "control" moniker) on which the heating is energised during set hours (i.e. not controled or influenced by weather conditions)

  • I can certainly identify with the system switiching on early say 8pm when their has been an adverse weather forcast for that evening/night time period. The immerser has never come on earlier than its usual hours.
Thanks to everyone, have emailed SP my meter reading done 5mins ago 7 asked that the meter be adjusted. The last bill I had was in Nov 2007 & I know we have had at least 1 price rise since but no meter person. Some years we get 3 & I faint with the joys of it all.

The Comfort Plus control tariff is unique to ScottishPower. It is normally billed via two seperate meters and there is a seperate MPAN for the respective Total and Control Rates. Unfortunately with this set up in your property you will be unable to transfer supplier.

  • Thanks Blue lol, if I understood any of it. Just received an email this aft from Ebico to say I have a 3THREE rate meter. Two Supply numbers, THREE rates & ONLY 1 single human living in this joint. Can someone please explain what/when/how the 3 rates work Please? I understand E7, was born in England and grew up in Brum without storage heaters so that side of things I am totally happy with, but 3 rates. I only get one set of radio clicks overnight. Ta much for everyone's help etc x.
