Can husband apply for same CC for BT?

I have quite a few CCs, mostly without anything on but two with big debts. One of these needs to be BTed in May. I already have an (empty) virgin CC, but given that that's offering the best rates at the moment I wondered if it's possible for my husband to get a virgin CC and transfer the balances to that? He's not got a supplementary card on my account, but would they look at the address and see that we live together and decline him?

I just assumed they might be tightening up things like this, what with that old credit crunch, n all.

Thanks to anyone who helps!

Sarah

Have you asked Virgin (MBNA) if there are any special offers on your account?

0800 783 1116 gets you through to retentions (during office hours).

Thanks for your reply. There is an offer on my account; it's 4.9% until 1 DEcember 08. I won't be able to pay much off it this year, as husband's job doesn't start until september, so I'd rather get the 0% deal if we can.

I don't know about Virgin, but my wife and I successfully applied for accounts with a.n.other card companies. I would guess they all have similar approval processes and as long as you both have good credit history there ought to be no problem.

However each application is assessed individually and there is only one way to find out if hubby will be accepted.

  • Both my wife and I have MBNA credit cards (Virgin is MBNA), each with over £16,000 credit limits.

    So, yes, it is possible.
