Taiwan Share ISA-such a thing? where?

HI,

i have filled up my allocation for my cash ISA for this year, and i am now interested in the share ISA part. I would like to invest in Taiwan through this, either through a fund or through a Index Tracker of the Taiex Index? is there any way that this can be done? if so, who offers this?

thanks in advance!

An ISA is not an investment, it is a wrapper.

The US market has a much better selection of such products.

Something like iShares MSCI Taiwan Index ETF would fit your needs

As a US-based fund you would not be able to tax-shelter it, and indeed would pay US withholding tax on the high yield this market currently offers.
  • thanks, but thats the point that i want to put money away within my ISA limits which i know you can do into a fund? ive seen Fidelity run a taiwan fund, so will contact them and try to get in with an isa wrapper. any other advice would be appreciated!

Worse than that you'd pay up to 40% UK tax on any gain versus 18% in an onshore fund.

So wrapping in an ISA makes more sense for these kinds of investments.
