Worth claiming for a 4 year old laptop?

I've managed to break both the screen and power jack for my laptop but I'm unsure whether it'll be worth claiming for it through my insurance. My worry is that'll I'll just get a crap £200 laptop due to the age of mine, in which case due to excess's and increased premiums I'd most lilky be better off just buying a new one myself.

Thing is it was an expensive laptop (~1600) when first bought so spec wise it's still good. My cover is with cover4students and it's my 3rd year. Ive never had any claims before.

Any thought as to whether it's worth it?

You'd be surprise what £200 can get you these days.. Gone are the days when you had to spend £1000+ for a good laptop..

Personally I wouldnt bother claiming as a 4 year old laptop is not worth much.

But the cover is new for old so he should get a new comparable spec machine.
Most insurer suppliers will check the specs and match to a current model equivalent and if you wish to better the spec., you can do so for an additional charge.
