Society account

I've recently taken over as tresurer of a small golf society. The Society currently has a HSBC account which pays no interest. The account normally has between £1,000 and £2,000 in it. It is never overdrawn. The members pay into it before each game which generally means there is a monthly income between March - October but through the winter there is no income. The account needs to be instant access as it is used to pay deposits, green fees, etc, at fairly regular intervals. These are currently paid for by cheque. Ideally I would like to open an account that allows members to transfer money in electronically. Does anyone know of an account that a society can open, which will pay some interest bearing in mind that there is not a regular monthly income.
Thanks in advance for all advice
