Connecting a laptop to the internet without 'phone line?

    Anyway, what was the original question -
    oh yes, we were talking about the holy grail - wireless internet everywhere, well mobile phone coverage anyway.#

    Vodafone are, i would guess, the best option at present - reasons?
    1. they use a USB 'modem' - cuts out the problem of PCMCIA variations on some laptops (Dell for a start)
    2. I find they have the most reliable coverage (i'm way out in the sticks)
    3. It'll work in some other European countries (you'll need to talk to Vodaphone to find out the ins and outs)
    4. I've found their technical customer service people actually know what they're talking about. (Quite amazing these days)
