Martins Love Child,
thanks for the info, but i would rather not take the risk. At the end of the day, honesty is the best policy.

Even if you don't use the extra £3000 at least you're not paying any horrible interest on the B/Card stuff when it's transferred.
There are a couple of things which you asked about in your original post:I have read through the terms and conditions, and (i think) as long as i pay it off after 9 months there is no charge (i am hoping to get back to work well before then)
This is true - if you log on to your Virgin account there is a little box to the right hand side of the summary screen which gives the date when the 0% ends. As long as you have paid all your minimum payments on time and pay the balance by this date you won't be charged any interest.but if i don't can i transfer to another card?
Yes - if you can get another card then you should be able to transfer the balance. Getting a card will depend on your credit references at the time you apply (you should apply about 6 weeks before you need to make the transfer).
I hope all goes well with the DSS people, but I hope most of all that you get another job soon. Best of luck.

i don't know if you have any savings but it might be worth mentioning for your bank account even if it's only a few pennies in difference - if you're unemployed i think you can claim your interest as tax-free if you fill in a form with your bank.52% tight0

unbelieveable, jellyhead, thank you both for your input, very much appreciated.
Well, just been to the local shopping centre and put my name down for a Santa ;D over the Xmas period. Got to wait for Police clearance because of being in close contact with kids but that is not a problem. Work is work, and you have to grab it when you can, besides it should add some good atmosphere leading upto the festive period. 8)
Thank you all for your help.
