What are Dichroic Lamps?

Need MR16 12 v 50W Lamps (with transformers), I see these Dichroic ones when looking. Are they ok?

Most of them are dichroic, this means the heat (Infra Red) is reflected out of the back of the light bulb instead of the front. They are also enclosed so if the halogen bulb was to explode it won't send very hot glass everywhereDave0
