I'd imagine as it is a vodafone branded phone it will be locked, however, if you go to http://www.google.com/search?q=unlocking+mobile&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&ie=utf8&oe=utf8 you will see there are loads of websites which will give you the unlock codes for a little as £1.99 HTH
You don't need to pay to unlock phones. I have unlocked every mobile I have owned, by myself, for free! Click here:

I had this phone a few years ago and it was exclusive to Vodafone and had to be unlocked using the software as there were no unlock codes that worked, despite claims that they could be unlocked via a code. I've not seen the site shown above before, so no idea if that would work for free.
This phone is 3+ years old now, so certainly not one of the upto date Sony's, but still a reasonable phone.0 -

"Vodafone can only unlock phones purchased from a Vodafone outlet in Australia".
Are you saying you've actually managed to unlock UK phones using this website?

According to that site:

its worth a shot, previous to this I have owned several nokia phones which I used online code generators to help me to unlock them0 -

Unlocking Nokia's are a different thing altogether, please read this post by gaming_guy for the correct advice0 -

I'll take that as a "no" then
(and I'd say it's definitely NOT "worth a shot" if there's a chance you could possibly end up permanently disabling your phone).
I'm still confused about whether you've actually used the Australian unlock website or not - when you say "previous to THIS", do you mean you've successfully used it recently? Can you please clarify.
Sorry, but I think it's a little irresponsible to imply that you have successfully used a service (which is not intended for UK users) and recommend other people try it out when there could be disastrous consequences.
