Help!!!! I need some help burning DVDs

I have downloaded my camcorder tapes to my computer using Roxio Videowave Movie Creator. I want to now burn my videos to DVD. I have gone through all of Roxio, but I am unable to burn to my DVD drive. Do I need to purchase some more software (or preferably freeware) in order to get my recordings to DVD???

Please help I have no idea what to do next.

Which writer software do you have (Usually Nero/Roxio CD/DVD Creator) & its version?

I have something called Intervideo WinDVD creator & Roxio Videowave Movie Creator. I have never burned anything to DVD, so I'm not sure if I need any other software.

Thanks, looks like WinDVD Creator will do what you want, but I have never used it so I cannot say exactly how. On the Intervideo site (http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/WinDVDCreator_Profile.jsp) it mentions a "Make Movie Wizard", which sounds to me like it will almost guide you through it in steps. Sorry I can't be more help right now.

Thanks for that. Just had quick go and it says incorrect disc/media type is not supported. I am using a DVD-R do you think I need to buy some DVD-RW? Or maybe some new software.

you may need to purchase some DVD+R media, sounds like yours could be a + burner only. You should be able to confirm this if you look in device manager......

Just had a quick look in the device manager, but still none the wiser. Looking on the front of the drive it does say DVDR/RW then DVD+RDL. Do you think I should go and buy some DVD+R dics?

If you can note down the DVDR drive model details from device manager we might be able to search around and find out its specification, so you know for future reference.

If you can just buy one +R to try for now.

First of all - is your DVD drive capable of burning disks or is just a DVD-ROM (read only) drive? If not, then no matter what software you have you can't do it. If it is a burner then chances are Nero was installed although WnDVDCreator2 has the facility to burn in various formats - VCD, SVCD, DVD on CD, DVD, and DVD+/-VR. The wizards will guide you through.
As for the diffrence between + & - most DVD rewriters and players will accept both formats so that should not matter.
