WATCH your direct debit changes!!!

Just wanted to advise everyone to watch their "automatically updated" direct debits.

I'm with Scottish Hydro for gas and electric and pay on DD. I always give meter readings so my bills are exactly what i've used. I've been expecting an increase but was shocked when my latest bill showed the gas up 80% !!:eek:

I rang them and a very helpful lady I spoke to checked and said that the computer had over calculated my gas by £42 a month and my electric by £15 !! She immediately changed my direct debits to the correct amounts.

So a warning to others - just because it's an "actual reading" bill, and the computer's calculated how much you should pay each month, check it anyway.!! I must admit, I only rang because it was so much over, i've never queried it before.

:D How glad am I that I made that call? £57 a month glad !! :D

    I rang them myself in february (southern electric) and asked them to put mine up...I'll rather be in credit than not...:D

    what a cheek! received two letters in the post today saying "we've reviewed your dd and have adjusted it to....." not "following your call, we're sorry .....".
    I don't think they'd have reviewed it if I hadn't rang them!!
