Hi fellow MSE...I have recently been using Canon compatible cartridges for my mp610 printer. The compatible cartridge was purchased from a well known company. I have been printing thousands of leaflets these pass few weeks. I have noticed that when I first used the genuine ink cartridges supplied by the printer and a few other genuine cartridges, I found that I managed to print at least 1 and the half times the quantity of leaflets than I did when I started using the compatible cartridges. I held up a new genuine ink cartridges and a new compatible cartridge to some light source to compare and notice that the compatible was only filled up 3/4 way to the top. When I shake the genuine ink cartridge there was no splish splash sound where as the compatible cartridges had..you know..similar to when you shake a bottle with half empty water, you can tell it is half empty.
A genuine ink from Canon cost me approx £10 for a black.
For a compatible it cost me £5.00
But some how I feel that I am not get value for money because I am getting less ink in the compatible.
Has anyone notice this with their compatible cartridges. Also can anyone recommend a good compatible ink company.
Thanks.

I buy mine on ebay but get more ink than a genuine cartridge and also save a lot more than £5, from what you say it doesn't seem to be that great a bargain by using compatibles.
Have a look at ebay and see if you can see some cartridges that say they hold 150% of the genuine ink cartridges0 -
Compatibles vary in one quality of ink and two amount of ink .
Is the cartridge a chipped cartridge as unchipped compatibles can show ink run out when it has not .
Jetec was a very good cartridge on my last printer . My new Canon have ordered from shop.ink.co.uk the Inkswiss cartridge as they where very cheap and came out top in tests in a German mag .

I bought cartridges from ink2u.co.uk and despite their assurance that they guarantee their products, they dont. The cartridges were not recognised by my printer so I emailed their support dept. I never got a reply after sending about 10 emails so I telephoned them. After a long wait the phone was eventually answered, and after explaining the problem I was told to return them for a refund. I returned the cartridges and never heard from them again so I lost £20. I advise anybody to steer well clear of this company because they do not guarantee their products despite their claim that they stand by their cartridges 100%.0

Thanks for your reply folks. Just ordered from ink.co.uk as recommended. Can't believe how cheap the prices were compare to what I use to pay for. I tried 365ink.co.uk. There prices were £3.99 for a non-chip compatible. From ink.co.uk, it was more like 33pm although there were delivery charge. Altogether, I ordered 4 cartidges + postage and it came under £5.00
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks.:j0 -
Need a genuine canon ink cartridge (black) for my Pixma MP600. Keeping with the genuine article as dont want to mess up my machine with anything else (or can anyone advise other option pls). Have found one for £8.99 (cartridge people) - just one no. 5 blk. - is there anywhere cheaper I should try?

I have a canon pixma ip5000 and I order my compatibles from https://www.nd-inks.co.uk
I have been using them for a number of years with no problems at all. Not the cheapest you can get but pretty well near and I carry on using them as they work well.0 -
Hi,
I've been using the guys and gals from www.stinkyink.com for a few years, not always the cheapest, but usually next day delivery - and nice people if you need to phone them up. Always get my Canon ink from there0 -
So, please explain, can I get a compatible ink cartridge for my MP600 printer with a chip or do I have to use the existing chip on my original canon cartridge? Sorry, please be patient!!:o If I decide to go back to buying the original Canon 5 black cartridge, any recommendations who to go to for good price? Thank you!0

Cli-8 cartridges are very easy to refill. There is a plastic ball bearing in the top which you have to fish out with a sharp knife- carefull! When this is out ink will leak out the bottom so you must cover with finger using plastic glove,0
