Indeed but this is one the more pointless ones I feel. I thought it would be more suitable for the pub, moaning and all that. I would have thought this forum is more for asking questions and getting answers rather than arguing and discussing0 -

Could be worse. Was a time when receiving any form of interest on a loan was considered to be usury and as such a mortal sin for which the penalty was ex-communication, refusal of a Christian burial, and eternal damnation in hell. Which seems a little harsh. It was later legalised under Henry VIII.
Nowadays we only have to answer to the taxman who wants paying on the full whack even if the rate of interest is less than enough to keep pace with inflation. With the current RPI of 4% you need at least 5% at the 20% tax rate just to get your money back or 6.7% at the 40% rate. (Not too good but think of it as your chance to go to heaven).0 -
