14mm holes with a 10mm chuck

Hi, I have to drill 4 14mm holes in the paving stones in my patio, and both my drills have only 10mm chucks. As its only a one off, I dont want to spend fortunes to fix it, so, do you know of any manufacturer who might do a 14mm bit with a 10mm shank? I searched the internet, and had no joy.
Thanks In Advance

bear in mind the drill might struggle if its only equipped with a 10mm chuck! or at least it may take a good while to drill.

as bockster has said you might struggle, but it wont take much looking to find a masonary bit iwth a 10mm shank and a 14 mm end. That said, I have a vague feeling you might have to go for either a 13mm or a 16mm, I dont think 14 is standard in masonary drills, but I might be wrong.

If you can get someone to turn the shank down on a lathe (local college or eng company) buy a 14mm drill bit other that do you know anyone with a sds dril?

  • They have 14mm masonry bits on screwfix, but it does not say what the chuck diameter is. I have a 20mm masonry drill that will fit in a 10mm chuck, but you will soon break your drill!

As mentioned an sds drill is the way to go with this ;)

Why not hire a bigger drill from HSS or similar

Im not sure about masonry drill bits but for steel a reduced shank bit is called a 'blacksmiths' drill bit
