Citibank Platinum - will they extend 0% period?

Hi,

My 6 month introductory 0% period on purchases on my Citibank Platinum will soon expire. Ideally, I would like to extend this by another 6 month, maybe even a year.

What tactic should I use when I call them to try and get it extended or shoudl I just ask them straight out and accept either the YES or NO?

what is the balance of your account , that may have a bearing on their decision , if theres a balance on it , i dont think they will do that for you personally , hope they do though , good luck , maybe try telling them you will be building up a balance to transfer away from them ?

The balance on my account is ZERO. It just that over the next 4 months, I have to pay insurance & servicing on 2 cars, house insurance, Xmas pressies etc. so I know its going to be an expensive period.

I'd call them up and ask them, being totally honest, i.e. if they don't, you'll probably end up with one of their competitors...

I have tried numerous times with Citibank without success. To be honest , as far as any dealings with this bank is concerned , they are a nightmare - their customer service is the worst of any bank I have dealt with.

I am inclined to agree. The only thing that keeps me with them is the 1% cashback, extended warranty and the price promise. I'm yet to feel the wrath of their customer services - lets see what happens when I ask them about extending my 0% period!!

I have tried it with Citibank and it doesn't work - I must say though, that I wouldn't be hasty and close the card, as they keep coming out with these juicy 1.9% rate for six months, which is almost as good as the zero% (especially since you can SBT the money) I have already availed of one of these and my wife is currently in her second 1.9% offer less than two years since she first got the card.

If it's the cashback that is the main attraction for you, you may want to double check that you are actually going to get it - I had to fight for two long months to get my cashback on my anniversary, as the Indian call center attendants coolly told me that my card wasn't a cashback card at all (of course it was, and they've now given me my £110 cashback for it)

I have been through the whole cashback hoo-haa with them. After not getting anything for the first 2 months, they have added it in and it appears on both my statements and on the internet. Let hope it all goes smoothly at anniversary time!!
