cannot install photoshop on vista

I have a problem trying to install photoshop cs3 extended on my vista. When I click on setup, the setup window pops up for 1 second and then nothing really happens. Any one know?

Right Click on the setup.exe and select run as administrator. See if this works.

Or navigate the disc via explore and run setup.exe.

Pull up your task manager and see if you have the msiexec.exe process running and how many times. The installation maybe stuck. Have you tried rebooting your machine then installing?

I just found this, give it a go if all else fails

Manually register the jscript.dll file.

On Windows Vista32:

1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
2. Right-click the Command icon, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.
3. Navigate to Windows\System32.
4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
5. When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.

thanks, I got about 88 processes running but none of them is msiexec.exe. Should I close all my other processes?

also, when I enter regsvr32 jscript.dll in the command prompt it states ' is not recognised as an internal or external command operable program or batch file'

The jscript.dll file is in the c:\windows\system32 directory so when you open your command prompt type in
cd\
cd windows\system32
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Leave your other processes running.
