New Dell with unsupported version of Vista?

I bought a new desktop from Dell in Feb 2008 and today I noticed that it is running an unsupported (beta) version of Vista.
In the vista 'Problem reports and Solutions' window it says:
"The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft Corporation. You are running a beta version of Windows Vista, which is no longer supported by Microsoft Corporation."

Any ideas anyone ? I dont want to kick up a fuss with Dell if this is normal, but seems prettay weird to me. It's not even refurbished or anything!

Take it up with Dell, they have an obligation to give you the software you have paid for.
Beta shouldn't have been installed.0 -
Beta no way its slipped through the net somebody's picked up the wrong disc .
Betas never go down the Retail customer route .

You didn't install one of the beta SP1's that were doing the rounds in early March did you? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Thanks for the posts. I've not loaded any Service Pack so still none the wiser... I read somewhere that they OEM installs can appear as beta (whatever that means).
I see on Dell's website they charge for the software support help line and dont take emails about software. Can't believe that. I'm going to see if the alternative numbers on 'say no to 0870' get me through to someone.0 -

NOT true .

If your PC is covered by a warranty, which it should be as it isnt that old, you can use the On-Line chat which includes technical support for both hardware and software.

Thanks a lot folks for all the posts.
I wanted to double check the version so I ran 'winver' from 'start search' on the start menu - and it says I have Vista Home Premium Version 6.0 (Build 6000). No mention of 'Beta'.
But the 'Problem Reports and Solutions' applet on the control panel still says that I have a beta version of vista under 'Information about other Problems'. It suggests I buy the retail version to fix the problem ..but doesnt say what the problem is (!?)
Thanks for the links to dell support. I'll see what they say. Hopefully its a problem with the 'Problem Reports and Solutions' applet....0
