Hi I have booked flights for myself and my best friend to go to spain for a few days for our 30th birthdays (figure that it doesn't count if we're not here!
) We are flying Ryan Air to Girona with the inital intention to stay in LLoret, now we're looking at booking a hotel, Lloret is scaring me a little so I was wondering if anybody knows what the other Costa Brave resorts are like Calella looks nice, we want to be able to have a couple of nights out and days on the beach but maybe not as wild as Lloret - but not quite scones and tea either;) .
Would appreciate to hear your costa brava experiences, want my friend to enjoy her break
Thanks
Hayley

L'Estartit is very near Girona and I love it. Not as commercialised as Loret or Tossa. Can be peaceful if you like it, but plenty of nightlife if you want that. My daughters always find plenty of bars/clubs till all hours. Fabulous beach, harbour.0

Malgrat de Mar and Santa Susana are quite good and next to each other.Malgrat has some Brit style pubs They are also on the train line to Barcelona, as is Calella and Blanes (Lloret + L'estartit aren't) so its only 40 mins into Barca centre0

I go regularly, if you want lively go to a H TOP Hotel and do the all inclusive, there great for a laugh, go to www.alpharooms.com and look up H Top Royal Sun which is right on the beach, or H Top Royal Beach which has bar straight over the road, when hotel bar closes at 12pm. H Top hotel Amaika is lovely All inclusive is great, even if you dont want to spend all your time in the hotel, as it pays for itself. For transfers look at www.lowcosttaxis.com or www.resorthoppa.com
I wouldn't advice H TOP calella palace its right up a hill, others haven't visited so can't tell you what they're like.0 -

Thanks sunshine guy we are booked for the 12th May, steps don't worry us, think we'll need the exercise! I'll certainly take a look at hotel sunrise. I have been to LLoret but in Feb several years ago and with a group including my husband. we all enjoyed it, but as i was comfortable in my group i didn't really think about anybody else, and at risk of sounding a bit feable it seems a bit daunting now after reading some reviews of the area. Your knowledge of which end to stay away from is certainly a help, :T0
