Tobacco smoke removal from leather jacket

Options
Bought this jacket off ebay, am very pleased with it, but despite hanging outside etc, theres still a stink of tobacco smoke, apart from dry cleaning (?), what else will take away the odour?

Thanks!

That's such a shame! I'd definitely mention it when you leave feedback though!

You could try wiping it over with a well-wrung-out clean, damp cloth. And then go over with a clean duster. You could try spraying the inside with a fabric or linen spray and then hanging it outside again.

Oh, and you could also buy some proper leather cleaner and see if that helps.

I had this with a leather jacket I bought from a 'designer seconds' shop. Ralph Lauren, gorgeous leather, but horrible ciggy smell!

I just hung it up in an unused room for several weeks, and also outside on dry days in the summer. I didn't want to use anything on it as the leather is so fab. I also can't stand the smell of Febreze and like products - worse than the ciggy smell IMHO.

It took a while, but after a few months the ciggy smell has gone completely and it just smells faintly of lovely leather. So do persevere - it does go eventually.

The best thing to do is use baby wipes on the leather this cleans and also helps the jacket last longer! I use them on everything leather including our leather sofas!

Please please do not use baby wipes on your leather furniture or clothing as they will destroy the finish on the leather. Our techs spend more time fixing this problem than any other.

As far as the smell goes on the leather jacket you need to use an enzyme cleaner (Em Clean) that has been specifically tested on leather and will not damage the finish. This product will eradicate the odour safely.

    Hope this helps
