Having never used Ebay before i want to sell an MP3 player that i have be given (unwanted birthday present).
Is it easy to put things up for sale on there and can i ask people for payment before sending items? and is it pretty easy to do.
Never used Ebay before and a bit in two minds using it due to the fact ive heard so many horror stories..............................
Many thanks guys

I'm not quite sure what an MP3 player is (Luddite!), but it sounds expensive! For your first time(s), why not try selling a few low price items first, such as books or CDs? It's all VERY easy to do.......I mean I can and I'm hopeless with technology......and just follow ebay's tutorials under the 'Sell' heading. Oh and you ALWAYS must receive cleared payment before you post your goods. Best of luck!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

hi Norma so i can ask the buyer to send me a cheque first and wait for that to clear, before i send the item in question out to them?Savings Total so far for 2026: £0/£10,0000

Yep - always wait for the cheque to clear. I've had no problems in the 4 years that I've been buying and selling. You can specify all your terms of sale on your auction page, and it might be a good idea to state that you'll post within the UK only until you find your feet! A good, clear photo of your 'goods' is also essential!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

Hi, welcome to the world of ebay!!
Why don't you try and buy a few small things first....stuff for 99p etc having no feedback may make buyers a bit cautious and they may bid on people with a more realiable selling history!!
Perhaps watch a few mp3 players and see how much they go for and how the auctions are handled!
What sorta things do you want help with?

Totally agree with Angel...
I t is best to get a little used to ebay before selling, so buy a few bits and pieces first. That way you will see what you like about some sellers and not others and set yourself up accordingly.
Also, no one is going to buy from a new seller with low feedback, so it will be a waste letting your item go too cheaply. Watch other auctions, see how much they get for similair products and what appeals to you about the wording they use, and again, make mental notes for your own auctions later on.

.. and as a seller do consider opening a paypal account. I know that occasionally things can go wrong but I personally have never had any trouble and it does make buying and selling so much easier.
