I moved into my new house on 22 Feb 2008. I'm changing back to EDF (who I had in my old house) from British Gas which was the supplier in my new house.
On 31 March, I got a letter from BG to call them with my finalmeter reading and they would give me a final bill there & then. This they did and they said it was £99. I think this is WAY out. My final elec bill from BG was £34 for the same period.
I've thought this through and even with seven radiators in the house on for most of the day in what was quite a cold five weeks, I really don't think I could have burned £99 worth of gas in that time.
I've already asked them to look into this. Stupidly I paid them as it was my final bill.

I think it could be right!!
Its near enough half a quarter and 200 pounds for a winter gas bill is high but quite possible dependant on your useage habbits etc.
Ask them what meter reading they are basing this on, ie the one your last bill was billed too, then you can work out for yourself0
