UK life assurance still valid if living overseas

I need to take out some new life cover and probably some CI cover as well.
Was planning to move to Oz later this year but as the wife is now pregnant we need to stay another year.
If we were to move to Oz for a few years and then come back would any policies which I take out now still be valid on my return ?
