I did not say that marriage could be seen as discrimination. (Though I think to decide to marry means you exercise some discrimination.)
What I wrote was, ". . . it is illegal to discriminate on the grounds of marriage . . ".
If you prefer it you can write that it is illegal to discriminate on the grounds of marital status. (Though it is not illegal to discriminate on the grounds that someone is single.)0
