How come that some people never check before they duplicate a post about the Times Out screening which has been posted 2 days before already? Answers on a postcard.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

My answer is:-
because they are T**TS -
fill in the letters yourself coz I don't want to waste a stamp (even thought I pinch them from work - ssh don't tell!!)
Yet another hope that a new code was somewhere out there in the universe but no another damp squid.:j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0 -
Lol that's what we are all really thinking but are too scared too say!!!!0

I suppose some codes are from magazines and other websites such as one recently form rock FM so these codes they may not know if got from source or from a website such as MSE.
I would expect even if MSE stopped putting on codes other sites would still do it.Debt free, except mortgage since 2021

Hi, Mancunian,
I don't think it is a question of them not approving, it's just that seefilmfirst now want to charge you for getting info on the codes. If you receive 8 alerts per month that is £12 per month. You can go on orange wednesdays instead!!
Personally, I always get tickets for the screening I want (and most of the times I just don't care about the movie, so don't even apply), as long as my local Vue is on the list, so I have never complained about not getting a free ticket. When I lived in London I almost never got free tickets, it's a lot of people trying to get a ticket. You have to be fast!! but I guess some people think they are entitled to free tickets and complain. I would never ever complain about a freebie. And you do have to be willing to get email updates instantly (some users of this thread do not understand this) and click to check the new codes. So actually there is a big cost involved in getting this type of freebie since being fast implies getting alerts for people thanking others, someone else ranting, someone ranting at the ranter, and then another person trying to calm everyone down.
I do hope codes will continue to be posted and I am extremely grateful for them. I have only been able to post a code once and it was at the same time as another poster (mine was first but barely by a couple of seconds!!), so after a rant I just deleted mine... and therefore I am grateful to everyone who manages to get these codes and shares them.
As for this quote:
This is really unfair and we (and most of the database) struggle to
understand why people do this. You post the code anonymously, and stop
other people getting tickets, for the sake of giving them to strangers
who wont even thank you?!
Seefilmfirst don't understand that it is nice to share. And in here we share advise, bargains, and movie codes. Even though I have not been able to share movie codes, I like to share bargains and help others. This is the definition of community
I just hope MSE forums will be able to continue allowing the code share for movies.
Thanks everyone.
PS: If we don't want to be traced back, we should not use the same usernames and emails for seefilmfirst!!
PS: Sorry for the big speech...0 -
Well I for one would have to question the success of SFF emails. Having been with them for just over two years, I can definitely say that I have got more codes from this site then I have ever got from emails from them yet I always return feedback for every film I see. SFF have to appreciate that their role is to generate free publicity and promotion of a film on the studios behalf. I am sure that the studios are not really that interested in how people get the codes for the films just that they do! At the end of the day everyone still has to register with SFF to use the codes so their database has presumely grown and I am sure that to promote themselves they are able to say "we have a database of x amount that we can use to promote your film". In my opinion everyone wins.........:j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0

I cannot believe SFF's cheek. They never email us anyway until when there are no more tickets left, so we are finding all these codes ourselves. To then say we will STOP other people getting tickets by posting the codes is surreal, because it is the exact opposite, and as for not getting thanks - hello? Are they really that far removed from reality that they cannot appreciate that our system of telling people about codes works far better than their system of hiding the codes all over magazines etc. and VERY occasionally sending out emails, usually when it is too late? And then they say spread the word! I can only shake my head at such stupidity.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

I dont agree with SFF suggesting that we now do a pilot to subscribe by text to receive codes.
I thought the idea was that film promoters just want people to watch their films and give feedback (which I do provide after I've seen a film) - NOT about making money.
SFF should review their current system and send out email alerts/codes quickly and for EVERY film they show (to those who have subscribed), then people wouldnt miss out and have to resort to trying to obtain codes elsewhere!0
