Notorious
When:
13:00 Sat Jan 10
Where:
BFI Southbank, Belvedere Road Waterloo, SE1 8XT
One of Hitchcock's finest films of the '40s, using its espionage plot about Nazis hiding out in South America to focus on a perverse, cruel love affair between US agent Cary Grant and alcoholic Ingrid Bergman, whom he blackmails into providing sexual favours for the dastardly Claude Rains as a means of getting information. Suspense there is, but what really distinguishes the film is the way its smooth, polished surface illuminates a sickening tangle of self-sacrifice, exploitation, suspicion and emotional dependence.
Each ticket admits 2 people.

Well, I've been busy all year noting down all the freebie film scores here at MSE and at FMUK....
Sorry to be bit late in thanking Wolverine for noting our ratings.....eventhough I thought Ironman or The Hulk or Enchanted would be my personal choice of best free screening of last yearIt was interesting to know Slumdog Millionnaire was the winner....
I was just wondering whether Wolverine would continue this year noting our ratings as well as the Free Film Previews Club?[Member #28 in Free Film Previews Club - 7 Films seen in 2008 ] [ 1 Films seen in 2009] :cool:0 -
Nah, I don't think I'll carry on this year...I'm hoping people will carry on posting ratings though...
But thanks for the compliment!Haikus are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense

Just returned from watching Che part 1. Truly uncanny the resemblance between Del Toro and el Che, a little bit less with Fidel but the actor definitely got the mannerisms dead right.
It brought back so many memories from uni back home, where we were able to watch all the forbidden films brought by the revolution to our cinemateque.
At that time ( and I don't know now) our University was totally autonomous, which meant self-governing so much so the police could not enter it as it would have meant an invasion, only the Army could. So anything that was prohibited by the "democracy" was then allowed on the premises, films of all sorts many of them of Fidel and el Che, of The Revolution and every fight against anything it would start inside, in the gardens of "nobody's land". Wonderful! Just wonderful! Thanks to those who help us to win !0 -
