  • Has anyone ever tried turning up without a printed ticket to the previews and convincing cinema staff to let them into a free seat before the film starts? I have never seen a cinema full during a preview and would love to see either Tropic Thunder or Pineapple Express at the Manchester Printworks this Tuesday. Its just annoying to know there will be people who won't turn up stopping me getting in! Cheers!

Just wondering as well, what makes some films get offered up whilst others do not  I really wanted to see WOMEN and was hoping for some codes but it seems none was going for it. So, how do they decide these things?

I guess it's just up to the film distributor to decide whether its worth it. Hence a blockbuster, that many filmgoers would go to anyway, is not likely to get free screenings. But the smaller films and the borderline blockbusters (such as Hellboy II) are more likely.

How is it that the codes always go that quickly but the cinemas are always half empty... *sigh*...

Did anyone actually manage to get tickets for Taken at Croydon Vue?
Smile more often, it's FREE :hello: Live on £4000 for a year stalker! :p

I've got a theory about that, and if SFF saw it my way they wouldn't be nearly as annoyed about code sharing!
I reckon the dedicated SFFers like us are far more likely to go than the person who just happens to find a code in the paper etc
I mean, we put the effort into finding codes and know exactly what we're doing whereas the casual member of the public is gonna be uncertain of two things:
    1) that they'll be let into the cinema
    2) that it's worth it
    *sigh*
Hence, lots of empty seats in the cinema...
Not that I can prove any of the above of course!

I've been thinking of doing the same thing!! I managed to get into one other screening in Liverpool (I used to get a lot in London) and it was 1/3 full, but they never even bothered to check my ticket.
