12v Car hoovers, are they any good?

I am thinking of buying a 12v car hoover, as fed up paying a £1+ every week at the garage to hoover the detritis out of my footwell :p

Are they worth the bother? and which ones are any good?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Why not invest £1 in a dustpan and brush from £1 shop. Works a treat for me and easier than trying to get the hoover nozzel in to small spaces.

I stole my little boys toy dustpan and brush andit fits brill in my glovebox, im so mean!

The 12v ones are fairly useless, however the mains rechargeable ones work just fine.;)
  • Hi

I would it bother buying one of these vaccum cleaners. To me, they are not strong enough to clean the car thoroughly.

I use the vaccum cleaner I have at home. Extension cable in a dry day and our cars' interiors is in perfect clean condition.

If you haven't got one at home, Netto has a 2400 watts vaccum cleaner for £29.99. Aldi should have some £50.00 vaccum cleaners left from the other week specials and it comes with 3 years warranty.
Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.

My mom has one of these, dirtdevil one I think.. little red thing especially for cars.. It is OK, but the suction on it is fairly poor. You'll get some of the dirt up, but no chance will you get it all.

    I wouldn't bother, personally.

ive had a couple over the years...pretty useless really
  • I would use a 240v but would need about 100 meters of cable, would be like a military operation every time so no point:p

Rechargeable seems the best option then, anyone reccomend one?

Rechargeables are rubbish not powerful enough

Get either a cheap cylinder vacuum cleaner or use the houses one.

    I use this one

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000YQA0K

But sometimes use the Dyson as it has slightly better suction

I have tried two car hoovers and they were rubbish. one was B&D rechargable another I got from TV show like QVC but not that one.

Buy yourself a long extension cable and use your home vacuum.

I got a rechargeable black and decker one, it is pretty good for doing the footwells but its not small enough to fit down the side of chairs etc.

as other people have said its probably better to use ur normal vac with an extension cable from your house. they can get anywhere with all their attachments.
