Hiya all. I am an old hand at ebay, and I was asking someone a question about an item, he sent me a normal email, and said he never uses the yellow 'Respond' button on the listings, as it makes it easy for people to hack into your account!!!! I havent heard this one before, and think twice myself when responding to questions on my listings. Anyone else heard of this?

I always go into MyEbay and check my messages on there now. Also reply via that as well so they can't get hold of my email.
Suggest to you and your seller that you do the same - Just in case.Noli nothis permittere te terere

That raises some questions...because when responding with that button relays it to the registered email address too!
Got me concerned now, whenever i ask questions via "contact a seller", i always get a reply to my email, never my ebay messages.0 -

I think ebay has introduced this so they can keep a nose in the communication between people! to check whether people are selling things off ebay etc!! I haven't heard of that and can't see why that would happen as you are responding through ebay itself! but I can't be sure!!

Well its a odd one, and I havent seen it anywhere else, just from the seller I asked the question to. Myself I would have thought its safer to use the respond button in my messages, and to tick the ' hide my email address' button to protect yourself from people just seeking your email address. Mind you judging my the amount of spoof emails I get, even on email accounts that are not associated with my ebay account, I think people will try any email account to try and get any ebay information!Official member of the BB B*tches club. no 2 B*tch.
