help with opening file

hi i need help with opening an attatchment sent in an e-mail to me please.

the file extension is .xls (does this mean it is a microsoft excel file?) i dont have microsoft excel, neither do i have a program on my pc that can open the file.

any idea's how i can view this file without having to buy something like microsoft excel?

You can download an Excel viewer from the M$ site here

And if you want to edit it, you can use Open Office.
