The new ADSL wireless router contains a modem, so no other kit (TalkTalk) is required. Any on the following routers here are suitable including a router/USB dongle bundle for £30.

The talk talk website gives instructions for setting up a netgear wireless router. Tese are on 1/2 price offer at pcworld and probably cheaper elsewhere.

Can say first hand you don't need to use anything of Talktalk's, that includes any of their horrendous (an assumption based on any ISP's software being horrendous) software. Get any ADSL modem/router and just put in your username and password. I've personally used a Netgear DG834G and a Netgear DG834N with them.
