Blocking Unwanted Grey Box Pop Ups

Please help!

My friend has a problem with annoying grey box pop-ups appearing when he surfs the internet. An installed pop-up blocker does not stop them.

I'm sure there is a free download available.

Thank you in advance

Ok what you want is IE maximizer http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/ for Internet Explorer if your friend uses that and after install right hand click the icon in the sys tray and choose pop up action close all, sorted.

this may be Windows Messenger (not MSN messenger) if this is Windows Xp

Updating to Service Pack 2 (via windows Update) to gives you the option to turn this off (if they have not already done this)

Should a pop up box appear on your screen with the words "Messenger Service" in the title bar such as the one below, chances are that you have Windows Messenger Services enabled.

  • Easier way.

    Start > run > services.msc

Find messenger, and disable it :)

    Much quicker <3

This WILL stop those grey popup windows by the way =)
