Mk4 Golf Electric window fault

My mk4 golf cabriolet passenger side window switch does not operate the window, works ok from the drivers side switch.
So i assumed the switch must be faulty, have taken it out and it seems ok?
Could it be a relay fault? Has anyone had a similar problem?

First thing I'd do would be to measure 12V at the switch, and the second thing would be to measure the continuity of the switch in the 'operate' mode. Then I'd test for 12V at the window motor.0

Thanks,
voltages and switch seem ok, but i cant really tell without a circuit diagram.0 -
You don't need one. All the window needs is 12V, unless theres some sensor that detects resistance (a hand in the window say).
Mind you, you could have 12V but no current being drawn.0 -
get a 6-24v test light, this will tell you easily if there is enough current there....work permit granted!0

No it won't.0

if there is enough current to put on a 24v bulb then there is enough current to turn the motor.
pointless anyway,as we already know the motor is ok as the drivers side switch will operate the window.
have you tried plugging in the switch from the drivers side into the passenger side.this will totally eliminate the switch.
could be a broken wire from switch to motor. have you checked the contenuity on all wires?...work permit granted!0 -
Without knowing the wattage of the motor in question you cannot compare it to a 24V bulb - whatever that is. You can only compare them both with figures for wattage.0
