Can you buy a UK compatible Nintendo Wii in China?

My husband and I have been talking for a while about buying a Nintendo Wii but have been put off by the price.
My Father goes back and forth to Beijing all the time with work and it's occured to me that this might be the best way to get a good price on a Wii.
I had heard Nintendo do now sell in China but wondered if the Wii's there will a) be compatible with UK games etc and b) be any cheaper at all?
I need to decide soon as my Dad retires in a few months!
Any advice?
Thanks in anticipation ...

Wii's are region coded, So you will need a European spec one, unless you either get it chipped (invalidating the warranty) or buy all of your games from the region it was bought in. I'd be careful of a chinese one anyway as I know with the DS the one sold in China is unique due to the language and I guess the Wii may be too.
Personally Id'; get a UK or European supplied one. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
You could just use the Wii Freeloader. Costs about £10 and doesn't require console modification:
