    There is a ferry never did it so can't comment.

    IMHO Cape Cod is overated not a 'must see' in my book if you are short of time.

    It isn't far from Boston (70 miles if I remember) to the bridges, so it is possible to do a return trip in a (long) day so long as the Interstate isn't too busy.

    We did stay overnight though, to make it less hassle.

    Provincetown is an Artisty type of small seaside place (Candleshops etc) not a huge lot to see...

    I suggest if you want to go to Cape Cod to drive down midweek (early start) pick a spot on the Cape at which to stop (Chatham, Orleans) chill on the beach and then drive back later.

    I wouldn't drive all the way to Provincetown from Boston as it's not worth the effort.
