do we leave the keys through the door, do we wait for a call before picking up the keys?

If you sell you take a set of keys to the agent. Then you leave all the others in the house. You can lock the door after you and post those keys so it gives you the opportunity to give the agent a set of keys when it suits you rather than in between leaving one place and going to another, iyswim. You have enough to do on that day!
When you have completed, you will get a call from your solicitor, your EA or your mortgage broker - or all three! To say that you have completed and keys are ready to collect
