Having just purchased a house find that some of the windows have what appears to be something like 5 fingertip impressions all over (are these the ivy attachment suckers ?).
They seem to be very firmly attached and I do not wish to damage the upvc surface.
Any solutions as to how I can remove them
There are a LOT !!0 -
I have an even better one - 86p for a litre bottle. A white bottle of star drops ( with added ammonia) cleans and seals upvc
I used it neat on my grubby grey window frames ( with a scouring-sponge), my neighbours laughed first thinking I was silly for even attempting it, then had to do it themselves cause it looked like I had new shiny frames.
My kids actually thought i had new windows fitted:j
it has been used on conservatory before and added value cause it looked brand new, the estate agent thought it had been replaced, he he he !!
its also good on carpet stains

PS : We can only get it at Home-bargains in our area0 -
Hi - I have been cleaning my windows (the glass, that is) with vinegar and newspaper and am extremely pleased with the results. However, I'm not sure about an OS method of cleaning the frames, particularly the ledges. In the past I've tried some of the cleaning brands and they just haven't done the job well enough and cost a lot of money.:rudolf: Always skip and eat your peas :rudolf:0

In the past I have used sugar soap to clean PVC window frames & you can buy it in a spray bottle or make it up yourself.
I have found it for sale in hardware shops & chains such as B&Q.0 -
tbh I swear by cif cream - but I use own branded equivalent (easy to recognise as it's in a similar bottle) or Wilko's own. With a bit of old towel it shifts a lot of gunk and is an excellent degreaser.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Hi topgranny,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the existing one on cleaning UPVC window frames to see if you can find a solution there.

Is flash mark and stain eraser still available to buy? I cannot find it anywhere to buy online0

I use one third white vinegar and 2 parts water applied from a spray bottle.Leave it on for a few mins to kill mould. Its totally non abrasive but stubborn marks can be treated with cif (which is mildly abrasive) I'm going to try coating them afterwards with a wipe of autoglym car polish which should polish them and shed water. (autoglym is not a 'coloured' polish so it should work. :think:0
