CH -Tips on Organising a Charity Ball

Hello,
Would anybody be able to give me any tips about organising a Charity Ball with buffet or table service dinner later this year?
I was wondering if there are any ways to get things cheaper etc. so that I can keep the costs as low as possible and raise money through the tickets to the event without them being too expensive before people even attend!
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

The only thing I can think of at this hour is to write to companies and organisations who might be able to provide things/services which would be useful well in advance and ask if they would be willing to help. In return, naturally, for credits in the evening's programme.
So, an off-licence, supermarket or wine merchant might provide wine at cost price etc. A catering company might do a special deal. If you can get volunteers as waiters / waitresses maybe from local Scouts/Guides that would be another thing.
And don't discount the power of the raffle in raising money ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Sending letters out sounds great, I'm going to give that a try. A raffle and/or auction will also be on the agenda so hopefully it's all on the way to success.
Thanks for your advice Sue!0
