does anyone know if i can go into a shop and buy a pre paid credit card rather than order one on line?

Yes you can, I think Splash Plastic is sold in WH Smith (or some other similar high street shop).0

It's best to shop around to find the best deals on these prepaid cards - the difference can be dramatic.
Some will charge you a monthly fee, then everytime that you top up, then everytime you spend, etc etc. It all mounts up.
I would suggest that you try very hard to get a visa electron card from a bank account, before going down the route of prepaid cards.
Visa electrons are now majorly accepted online, in supermarkets, etc. It's no longer necessary to have a mastercard or visa.

i intend to leave the uk for good in about 2-3 months so a bank card is not an option but thanks anyway
