I doubt it can be repaired except by Apple. Apple went to great lengths to design the iPod with built in obsolescence; have you seen the price of having the battery replaced? you can get third-party kits to do it now but they invalidate the warranty.

Personally I would buy an iRiver, better value and better sound quality.

Try the Fix My iPod Repair Centre - always advertising in MacUser and other Apple mags, link is: https://www.fix-my-ipod.co.uk/ipod_repair_home.asp
    Not that expensive.

Not sure suggesting buying an iRiver will help the OP fix their iPod - never had a problem with my iPods, and we have plenty in the family, switch the headphones and the sound quality is excellent IMO.
  • There are lots of good ipod repairers on the internet. Some more honest than others. Just ask a few questions and get a quote. Will cost you nothing....

I thought that when I paid a company called MBlue Ltd to repair my IPODs cracked screen, they damaged more than they repaired now they won't take responsibility and repair the damage they caused. Avoid at all costs.

They go by the website "appleipodrepair.co.uk"

I didn't think any iPods had user-replaceable batteries - which one have you got?

depending on how small your fingers are, the IPODs are fairly simple to repair. I have changed batteries and screens for friends and family, with no issues - but I wouldnt offer to do it proffessionaly though!
There are some really good guides on you-tube.
  • I think only Apple can repair hardware of an ipod..
  • There are lots of business's repairing ipods. Most of the time apple just want you to buy a new one. Look for one with someone who has a telephone number, not just a website.
