Should I download Internet Explorer 7?

Hello! I recently got a Microsoft pop up saying that I should download Internet Explorer 7. I wanted to run it by my fellow money saving experts before downloading as I understand its been round for a while now.

Pro's and cons....should I or shouldn't I? It's over to you!

Do you use internet explorer normally? If so download it, as it's been tweaked to be better and more secure than the previous incarnations. If you use firefox or opera browsers however then there's not really much point is there if you only use it to aquire windows updates.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

You're now going to get suggestions of Firefox and Opera from people (possibly even the odd Safari or Apple switch suggestion). Which is fine you can install those browsers as well and even use them as your default. But as a direct comparison between IE6 and IE7 then definitely upgrade, it's vastly superior to 6. I don't know how people live without tabbed browsing. I used to use Firefox as my default for years and only moved back to IE once they brought out 7. I really prefer the cleartype text as well.

  • Will I still be able to keep Internet Explorere 6 installled as well as downloading number 7 or will it just delete the old one and install the new one?

IE7 will overwrite IE6 and you will just have an updated web browser same icons same shortcuts .

Can't think of any reason why you shouldn't download it

Yes, it's the upgrade for IE 6.
Personally I much prefer Mozilla Firefox.

I've tried all the other browsers and still prefer IE7, as has been said before it's a huge improvement on IE6 so go for it !

It is actually more secure than IE6 but if you don't like the look of it or other browsers you can go back to IE6 simply by uninstalling IE7 in the add/remove programs.

Of course you should for all the reasons above. Microsoft currently have IE8 in Beta so it's about time you upgraded from 6. I still like Firefox better but IE7 is a vast improvement on IE6.
