Might sound a bit thick here, but what is Adware. My internet security keeps popping up with a message saying "Adware has been detected" and gives me several options, one of which is Qurantine(recommended). I know security is dealing with it and warning me but is there anything else I should be doing or not?
Second point is not actually techie, but I have been getting several e-mails telling me that my online bankig account is going to be suspended. Didn'tthink much of it in first place as they weren't banks I deal with ut got one the other day for my bank. I had just been on my online banking so everything was fine and I just deleted the e-mail, is this a new thing going round or what?

What 'security' are you running on your computer?Second point is not actually techie, but I have been getting several e-mails telling me that my online bankig account is going to be suspended. Yes they're phishing or spam call it what you will, they're just emails waiting for the guillible to click the link inside them and try to log into their bank accounts so that the page creator can capture the login details and empty the various bank accounts. You've done correctly by just deleting them, but if you've followed a link in one of those emails to your chosen bank account. You should tell your bank immediately and change your login details.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
your bank will never ask for your details so you done right with delite have a look http://www.banksafeonline.org.uk/ at the link should help

Ad-ware is usually just annoying pop-ups, annoying but fairly harmless.
Spyware is more serious, in extreme cases it can monitor what you type and steal passwords and serial numbers. Very nasty.
I use Super Anti Spyware to protect my PC, it's free and pretty effective.
Beware of fake or rogue security programs like "Spy Sherrif" or "Spy Shredder", they are dangerous! You can check whether a security program is genuine or not on sites like: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
Got to the website 100-Downloads if you want a list of the most popular genuine free programs.0 -
