Pictures Folder on pc

Hi all can you help? I am running windows xp. I have somehow lost my pic folder/link/both from my start up menu?

On my pc you used to be able to click start and on the second 'list' there is a pictures folder (underneath the documents folder etc) and when you clicked it my pictures folder flashed up as a explorer window. Only now I click it and nothing happens, the documents/my computer ones work but not this. I think I have have somehow deleated the whole file from my pc (thank heavens I backed all my pics up) only its not in my trash can either

Is there anyway I can get thsi back/the link working again? Thanks in advance :D

Pictures on XP folder in My Documents so check for pics their first as the link is only a short cut . No picks folder then right click and explore recycle bin if in the bin right click the folder and restore .

    To return shortcut
click start menu then right click blank space above this next to log off and turn off buttons .
Properties > Start menu Tab > Customize >>Advanced tab
Scroll down and tick > My Pictures> display as a link .

Could you have moved the folder into another folder? Have you searched for it? Start\Search, files and folders My Pictures... hit Search and see what it returns.

You could click Start then goto My Pictures and right click on it, select Properties and when the window pops up, ensure it's set to 'Read Only' and NOT 'hidden', if its set to hidden highlight 'Read-Only' and click Apply\Ok. You may also wish to ensure that it's pointing towards the right folder, by default it's pointing towards c:\Documents and Settings\YOUR-PROFILE-NAME-HERE\My Pictures.

As regards getting it back and performing the way you are used too, you should do the following: Right Click the Start button, select Properties then Start Menu Tab\Customize then the Advanced Tab. Scroll down the list of items untill you find MyPictures and put a dot next to 'Display as a link' then click Ok untill you get out of those menus.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.
