Is it ok to call LL to ask what his plans regarding Lease are?

We are currently renting an apartment which we really like. It is a standard 1 year AST , and it runs out on the 31st of june.

We love the flat and the Area and have had no problems (or interaction) at all with the Landlord. We really would like to stay in the apartment, but we are aware that he is trying to sell (put it up for sale shortly after we moved in) it. So far there has only been one viewing, which was months ago.

Now I have the following two reasons why I am considering to call and ask about his plans with the flat:

- We need to order oil, and I don't want to order too much if we only have about 2 more month at the place.

- We are going on vacation at the beginning of june for about 3 and a half weeks, which would mean that we might have to move (or at least find a new place) before we go.

Do you think i should call him to clerify, or just sit tight and wait until the end of the month to see if he sends us the 2 month notice?

    No harm in asking, my tenant asked 4 months before the tenancy end!
