MBNA platinum card for cahoot ..... another one?

I was thinking about applying for a mbna platinum card to clear the balance of my cahoot flexi loan and enjoy the 0%. I've just received a letter from abbey saying they're upping my APR to 19.9. Obviosuly I don't want to stick with Abbey, should I try and ask MBNA for enough credit limit for both or should I apply for 2 seperate cards? If so does this look bad on credit file / less likeley to be accepted because of muliple applications? Thanks
