How do I come off Economy 7?

We inherited E7 when we moved to our current house 8 years ago. But now, it's increasingly inconvenient to make the most of it - children getting older, more muddy sports kit etc.
HOW DO I SWITCH BACK TO A "NORMAL" TARIF? And can I still do it via the links here to get cashback? Or at least online to get the decent tarifs?
I've kept track of my actual meter readings per quarter, and my night usage has dropped below 30% now, with more efficient washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher etc. Central heating runs off combi boiler. I try to run the white goods only overnight as much as I can.
The latest lot of prices show me that I'd be £75 pa better off with Npower's normal sign online tariff compared with my current E7 one, although around 30% night usage seems to be about the break-even point for many rates.
Any advice?
Thanks.

when I changed ON to E7 was just a case of phoneing supplier and they arranged for meter to be swapped Free of Charge. I assume it would be a similar process to reverse. I would imagine you would have to change to your current suppliers single rate tarrif (i.e. after they have swapped meter) and then switch from there...
Is your break-even as high as 30%? I've got a poll running on % off peak usage, but on many threads, people suggest for many E7 tarrifs, break even is at abround 10% night usage.
On a personal note I wouldn't touch NPower with the proverbial.
HTH
MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.:cool:0 -
Thanks for the comment on Npower - I've just read the post on sculpting... I agree, they don't come recommended.0

Big Yellow Taxi,
there's no real need to even change your meter. Some suppliers simply switch you to the 'normal' version of the tariff, when the meter reader comes round he will still read the two readings seperately but they just get added together to come up with your total usage. I know E.ON work like this, not too sure about other suppliers.0 -

I've just played around with my readings: at 25% night usage, I win on virtually all tariffs (£10-£30 pa), but at 22.% it saves me £5. Npower is the exception, but my spreadsheet doesn't allow for the sculpting that's been discussed - so I shall ignore that one.
For some reason, my current electricity rate seems pretty cheap. What's on the bill and on my online account is below the published rate, so maybe I'm just best to keep quiet about it?!
Thanks dellxps, I had wondered whether the addition of 2 numbers would be just too simple a solution in this day & age. :rotfl:0 -
What are your unit rates (including standing charge or tier 1 rates)
As it has been mentioned, I do recall sombody else saying that when they changed from E7, their meter stayed and they just added the units together.
PS. I thought the sculpting was just on gas - but I could be wrong.I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.:cool:0 -

Yes that's right. I have a modern electronic "economy 7" meter and Eon charged me the sum of the night and day readings. I'm switching to Ebico now who are insisting the meter is switched to a single-reading meter. Crazy! Free of charge though. Ebico have communicated well & are no bother, but they insist on swapping a meter which Eon coped with fine.0 -

Probably because they either have an agreement for their own mop to provide the service or determined by the supply contract. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

The reason Ebico will want the meter swapped is for their benefit.
If a supplier just adds your reads together, they still get charged for the two rates, as the rest of the industry still sees the 2 rate meter.
When you swap supplier, your new supplier will see it as a 2 rate meter - increasing the chances of things going wrong.
