Child Benefit 2008/2009 payments

I received my letter from the Child Benefit Office about a month ago showing my new charges as from April 5 2008 and assume they commence as from April this year. I have 3 children all under 16 and worked out that I should be getting around £175 every 4 weeks, however according to my bank statement today i only received £170. I was for the last tax year getting £169, so I have only recieved a £1 increase. They holding time on their phone line is incredibly long at the moment so i thought i would post this first. Have they made an error or have i miscalculated or misread the letter. Could anyone else with 3 Children enliten me with what they have recieved if their payments were due or have been paid as from 5th April 2008.

Aren't they paid in arrears, so you'd have past few weeks at old rate?0

Never though of that - if so why have I got a £1 increase!? Shouldn't it be the same as I got last month. Maybe I'll try the phone lines again.0

Might it be pro/rata from 5th april, so you've got 3 weeks plus of old rate and a couple of days of new rate?0

Spendless is right. I have 2 children and have been paid 3 weeks old rate and 1 week new rate.0

i have 3 children, your new 4 weekly payment will be £173.70, This is from the 7th april, so any payments before will mostly be made up of the old rates. An extra £4.50 whoopie lol0
