Hi, My daughter broke her Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop screen( 14.1" wxga )last week and looking at the cost of a new one which is over £150 and is too much for her.My friend however has a Dell Inspiron 1100 which has packed up but has a good screen and has been unable to use for a few months. My question is without trying to phone Dell and speak to an Indian who wouldn't know what I'm talking about, is would the 1100 screen fit the 1300.Would be grateful for any advice.

If portability isn't an issue and the laptop is still working, why not try connecting it to a standard monitor ? Would be cheaper than a new panel for definite.0

i dont think they are the same either (i've repaired a few laptops over the years...) - best bet is look at the ad below, start searching ebay for the model numbers it quotes and look for other ad's that have the same model number - its abit of a paper chase but usually works (eg you may find the panel is the same as a acer 123acb which is alot cheaper). Then change it yourself - good luck

Try the back street laptop repairers too, they have a bit of inside knowledge ans sometimes a spare parts bin in the back room. And don't forget to check your home insurance - it might be worth claiming for a fully invoiced repair and paying the first £100 or so excess, whatever your policy says.0
