Seat belt stuck in door which wont open

The seat belt on the rear passenger side of my 206 is stuck in the door and the door will not open. I can only see one screw attaching the inside door panel which is in the handle opening pull thingy.

Is it easy to remove the inside panel and maybe get the seat belt out or should I just go to a garage?

The door will not budge at all, I was thinking maybe the seat belt being stuck has caused something else to go wrong with the shutting mechanism although where the belt is stuck is further down than the actual catch bit if you know what I mean.

Any ideas please

I suggest getting inside the car and giving the door a good hard shove open with your foot while at the same time getting someone to operate the door handle.

have tried that already, it isn't moving an inch
  • Look at the opposite door catch and try to work out what could have happened.

I would take it to a garage, your unlikely to get the panel off as often the screws can only be got at when the door is open.

You may also need a new belt when it finally comes open.

same thing happened to us on saturday - we thought the door was stuck locked aswell but we managed to unlock the central locking - i got inside and pulled the seat belt tight while oh pulled on the door - after one or two minutes trying it came undone - and low and behold the same thing happened the next day - i was on my own but did manage to get the door open eventually with a sharp pull

I assume you've tried from the outside....it could just be that the child lock is on the on position?

There is a child lock on the door, but we have tried from outside, it just feels that if we pull and push any harder something is going to snap. I guess it will have to be a garage.

Thanks for your help anyway guys

Had exactly the same thing happen to me. It was the childlock. I removed the panel. Checked were the childlock was located on other door and then put a small screwdriver in to hold back the childlock.

    Good Luck.

We had a lazy belt on a car of ours which often got jammed in the door. We found that sometimes you need to take the pressure off the lock to get it to open when it’s jammed. So lift and hold the handle and try pushing it closed, you can be quite forceful, I use to use a knee on the back edge of the door.

Do you have breakdown cover? If so I would call them out and see if they can sort it for free.
