HB question

DOES any 1 know wot the threshold hold is tht allows a single person to get help with HB etc a friend single gets IB ahe has a pension dont know how much she got letter in to day sying tht her morgage is goin up £50 she got a fright I under stand every 1 situation is diffrent but if some 1 can give me a rough nomber and ad vice wot she is best to do would b very welcome

    You don't get Housing Benefit to pay your mortgage. HB is to pay rent.
    IB/IS should pay the interest on the mortgage but this is only once you've been claiming 6 months. I take it she doesn't have payment protection?

    she suffers from lupus and has been off work for a few years so may b her protection is used up she is off old school and not wanting any help but this £50 a week raise frightend her ty for ur reply ill send her to CAB for further advice:)
